Your legs dangle off the side of the dock as the rain splashes down all around you, rippling the water's surface. You can barely make out your reflection, distorted in the water.
The sun has almost set by now. Twilight is settling in. If the sky above wasn't covered by rainclouds, the stars would probably look wonderful.
You glance back at the water. Maybe it's the ripples reflecting the last bit of sunlight, or maybe it's your overactive imagination, but you could swear there was someone sitting next to your reflection. But, of course, that couldn't be. You're alone.
The sun sets. You peer back down. You're the only one looking back.
