It's the end of a long ceilidh. You've danced with old friends and made new ones. You've done the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sergeant, and the Flying Scotsman. You even attempted the Cumberland Square Eight and there were only a few minor injuries.
But now, a voice calls out across the hall. "Will everyone please form two long lines down the length of the room..."
Everyone, young or old, drunk or sober, gathers up their last reserves of strength and gets into line.
It's time for the last dance, the longest and most chaotic of them all. It's time for the Orcadian Strip The Willow.
There will be casualties.
