this was fun to do! Really enjoyed revisiting things and trying to pastiche my own phases of creativity for submissions here.
For anyone curious:
I tried to pace this based on the types of submissions and battles I did this year, in order. Not exact, just sorta how I think of it.
Started with just MSGS drums and twinkle bell, because that's how my first battle back after my two year hiatus started. Added Kirby soundfont stuff to reference Road To Golden Wildchip, as well as also just being a thing I do a lot here. Almost all of the non-Kirby samples used come from remix OHBs (the flutes and recorders in particular being from one of my favorite bitpacks this year, a Sample Pack Series, I believe). Slowly added MT32 in until it became only MT32 because of all the enthusiasm here for it that lead to me buying one. Guitar because of guitar major. The gabber kicks/amen/anime girl samples are also all from remix OHBs. I used it for dance music because I feel like it's uplifting/moving forward/etc and in reference to Spring Tracks.
Kept MSGS throughout almost all of it because uh... well... I've hosted almost 70 MIDI battles this year >___>
The only OHB sample specifically from beyond Spring Tracks is the samples of my own voice that I cut up for an allgear house music OHB that I think happened in August.
