An Earthbound Soundfont song that's meant to capture the emotion of a summer night I spent stargazing with my best friends while having a conversation about the state of our lives, the state of the world, and the mysteries of the universe. Made in FL Studio in just over one week.

Interpolations: Porter Robinson, Bill Harley, nu11, Geoxor

[SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE SONG BELOW BELOW]

P.S. 1. I achieved the "super" saw chords (if you could even call it that) by stacking the same saw wave sample from two different Earthbound soundfonts on top of each other.

P.S. 2. Idk if it's an issue, but just in case, I might as well mention that I chose *WILD_CHIP* over Fakebit so I could make the file size a little bigger. It probably doesn't do much to the sound quality but I assume it's better than if the bitrate was lower.

Once again, it'll be on SoundCloud, this time as soon as the entry period ends. When the voting period ends I might upload this to YouTube.

I may or may not change all A naturals in the repeating pattern during the fadeout to A# to fit the "peacefully floating away" feel of the song for its release on my other platforms. if this upsets anyone lmk here

that's cool! keep in mind you can also resubmit your entry here until the entry period closes, if you head to "Submit Entry" and scroll down to wildchip. so if you wanted to update your song here too you could do that

what a wonderful journey! love the pacing of the whole thing. i'm a sucker for this kind of long song. you made something very special with the tools you used.

both this and your spring tracks entry feel like very earnest music. there is an intangible quality about it that i think is uniquely human

also re: the file size i do think it's strange that the wildchip limit is 10mb but the fakebit limit is 7.5mb? almost seems like a mistake to me but idk

Thanks! Sorry for replying so much later, this comment has got me overthinking cuz I can't even figure out how you see my music as uniquely human, but it's still really meaningful because nobody has ever said that about my music before.

Also yeah the fakebit 7.5mb thing vs wildchip 10mb really does seem weird, but only for this specific example cuz in a DAW like FL Studio you can basically render any size mp3 if you adjust the bitrate.

Furthermore, I guess it's down to the leniency of the category, cuz I can see how wildchip's "anything remotely chip/fakebit" description can allow stuff like actual EDM songs with chiptune instruments to be entered into the competition, for example POLYBIUS GB SPEEDRUN (Glitchless 100% WR in 0:03:57) by Camellia (which might be pushing it) but fakebit isn't that lax so it makes sense...well, at least to me it isn't. It's always been in the eye of the beholder according to the lyceum, so maybe the difference in the filesize limits really is a slight error after all.

It would be cool if you did some hard compression on the samples, loaded them into C700 and got an actual spc out of it haha... Well... not at that length lolll
