ovrthrustr, here probably was a lyre that sounded a bit similar to banjo as it had front of its body made of skin, just as oldschool banjos used to have. There is a similar instrument in Ethiopia called Krar, and it follows an old tradition of ancient lyres, so it's possible that ancient egyptians also had similar instruments idk
Mesopotamians and middle-easterns sure did
So I guess banjos can be connected to ancient egypt this way
