You gotta create J-Fusion music for your MSX cornputer.

T-SQUARE and Casiopea are good starts for your inspiration hunt. Traditionally, it's J-POP combined with another genre, usually Rock or Jazz, but this can be really mostly anything mainstream (some less upfront artists combine funk or hiphop).

NOW. THE FUN PART, This gotta be MSX chuptune, so you must ONLY use chups that the average MSX supported back in the day. This means you're limited to either pure PSG tunes, or you can add your choice between either of the SCC chips and the YM2413 chip (basically, valid configs are PSG only, PSG+OPLL, PSG+SCC or PSG+SCC-I)

===
Format: VGM (Limited to AY-3-8910/YM2149F, plus your choice between SCC (K051649), SCC-I (K052539) and YM2413, as per above)

Voting Categories:
* smooth
* pop factor
* rocking
* harmonious
* fusion in pants

non-compo description comments:
I had to make a decision on whether I wanted to feature other now-supported chips, but this would've opened the gates to pretty much "it's open to most if not all FM synths and also multichip is very doable, with dual SCC and whatever". I wanted to keep the premise of the compo somewhat interesting. This somewhat contradicts the ommision of the Y8950 or the YM2151, both which had computers or cartridges that supported it, but from what I researched online, there were only like two or three computers, if that, with YM2151 support, and then it also had one cartridge developed and no others from companies. Similar story with the Y8950, meanwhile there were plenty of SCC games from Konami, and plenty of carts and computers with YM2413 support, so I decided to focus solely on those for Extra Spice :tm:.

I really am happy with how the art turned out. I've tried my best to follow the MSX1 graphic spec, so there should be very little attribute breaking tiles, you can pretend there's overlaid sprites and whatnot.

I'm not 100% on all the voting cats yet, so if you got suggestion i'm all ears :ears emoji:

Also, the art was supposed to be 160x160 but uh I didn't realize that's kinda not supported so uh yeah i had to upsize it a bit hence why it probably looks a Little Odd

GOOD combination of soundchip(s) and genre, I'd love to try my hand at a fusion track. On Konami SCC no less!!

thanks!!! i elaborated on why i picked those in The non-compo comments but the short of it is that the y8950 wasnt Super Popular during when the msx was relevant, and that also lent itself well to just wanting more spice - neither the ym2413 or scc can do great drums on their own, but paired up with the psg chip, you've got both rhythm and polyphony covered, so to speak.
