Nice one. Sure, maybe not classic funk, but you definitely have some great melodies and leads going there! I enjoyed it.

this track feels kind of "blurry" to me. it sounds like a bunch of very similar sounding synths playing polyphonically in the same range so it all sounds weird and blurred together. i would like it more if they were more distinct from eachother, i think. the rhythmic delay effect doesn't help either. it just sounds like one big blurry mass without a clear identifiable melody. that break around 1 minute where things clear up for a little while is nice, i kind of wish there were more parts like that. gives the listeners a break from the dense staccato polyphony.

I see what you mean, not sure though how to avoid this thing. It's more like a stream of conciousness than anything else.

well, you could try spacing the different "parts" out more. like make sure they don't cross back and forth over eachother; in other words treat a note on your middle voice like a wall and the other parts must stay above that part or below it, they aren't allowed to cross the boundary that it's creating.

of course, you don't have to do this, but it's one way to create a less blurred sounding arrangement, where everything has its own definite space. stereo panning is of course another way to achieve this, making sure each instrument has its own space in the stereo field so that it can be identified from the rest. and yet another is by changing the timbre of each instrument (or in this case synth) enough that it sounds like an entity distinct from the rest.

I like the way it sound and the composition is nice too. If I had to get nitpicky I would say use a snare with longer duration and maybe a little more high-end eq. Over-all I think it sounds good and loud!

Cool sound, but not sure if I'd classify it as funk. Generally with funk, there's a base shuffle and swing beat layered with solos and melody/countermelodies. The beat you have going is pretty alright, but where I think this song fails to land is the execution. On paper this song seems like it would work, but a lot of the instruments that have interesting parts get fogged out by others. I'd definitely focus on clarity and simplicity next time around - you got what it takes! You just have to control yourself. Sometimes some emptiness is ok.

I hear a melody, but as the others have said- funk has more space to grant rhythmic emphasis.

Good song, though.
