New stuff.
Pure ZX Spectrum 48K with its powerful BEEPER, that is:

The Dynamic Duo ;) of ZX48 chips -

**Zilog Z80** and **Ferranti ULA** -
harnessed again, to generate more 1-bit music with strange new synthesis in 9 channels of sound (8 tones + drums).

I composed this song using a non-published (yet) engine programmed by Retrospec, based on the old good Octode.
Except the new way of synthesis, there are also introduced 2 levels of volume (4 loud and 4 quieter channels).
Hence - more space, more weight, in Beeper music.
Recorded from real hardware.

Compiled data (TAP file) is only 8Kb big (which is small for the Octode and its clones).

The song itself is a kind of 'funky / ballad', I don't know if you would like it.
So enjoy anyway, even though ballads never win compos. :)

Composed in the end of 2014 year, never published before now.

Regards,
MISTER BEEP

this seems like a rly interesting engine! do you have any idea of when will it be published, and what tool(s) i can use? (i hope theres a xm/it2tap or that engine haha i'll definitely enjoy making speed 1 stuff with it)
also, good song! i dont rly like the drums but this is definitely enjoyable, nice job :D

Sadly you cannot change the drum-set. They are like they are and I don't think it would be possible to make them better.

However I remember XXL cracking the original Octode engine and putting there digital drums instead of those.
The drums sounded better but they were generating bigger "gaps" among notes so it became audible that the ninth channel (drums) is actually made by breaking the sound.

Although, who knows, maybe one day we would return to XXL's idea, but with this Octode version I used here. We would have to confront Retrospec.

I was considering making a beeper song for laughs, but this is so much better than what I could have managed with it.

Oh man, so much oldschoolness it's killing me. I love this piece of music. It is simply brilliant all-around. Can't point to a single flaw. I will listen to this again.

Well, what can I say - thanks mates. Beeper gives still new possibilities because it's not a regular sound-chip - it is a CPU in fact. (Z80 in my case). So it can still surprise us ALL! :) :)

Thanks a lot mates. Most appreciated.

Maybe next time I will try to simulate some "filters" on the Beeper.
Theoretically it should be possible. Hmm. We will see.
Hear.

Whatever. ;)

Of course the engine has been coded by **INTROSPEC**.
Ah, cannot say how sorry I am for the stupid mistake.
