So, as cringey as it is for me to be submitting "FakeBit", here we are... The explanation is simple: I wanted to make something with the Dirtywave M8 tracker, but there is no category for it!
I decided to treat it like a multi-chip device, and dedicated 2 channels to fm (ala genesis), 1 as genesis samples, 3 as SNES samples, and 2 as pulse (was picturing game boy, not that it matters).
I attempted to recreate a galaxy force ii bass patch (fm engine isn't identical to genesis so there is some "by ear" adjustments for all of these), and 2 shinobi iii leads, along with ripping shinobi iii drum samples. For the SNES channels, I ripped rhythm guitar from MMX2, and string/choir (?) from DKC2.
The actual composition isn't exactly Ys inspired, but I feel it has some of that energy, and subverts the stereotypical "winter" vibes in that way.
All in all, it is a fun groove I made in a couple days, having totally missed the announcement for this battle, and frankly having not been around the community since spring, and thus made at more or less the last minute... Enjoy!

PS, in the spirit of the usual sharing of the tracker file, I'll share a folder with: wav, mp3, stems, and the m8s file (for those with m8 hardware or headless): https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ak4hb3w_EWnti5J_CLWOlBDeSfwf0Q?e=oZn3e1

@Vav, well coming from you, who makes amazing music of all sounds, I'll take it. But primarily it's just that my contributions here so far have been specifically chip, and specifically tracker music, so I feel weird straying from that, especially because this place is obv all about that. Anyway, I love m8, and wanted to use it this time, so I accept breaking from that tendency, this time... :)
