Thanks everyone! So here's the whole deal: I have been procrastinating on entering this contest for the entire duration of it, despite having worked on some really retro stuff, any of which I could have uploaded.
I just kept forgetting about it!
Today I was driving down the highway in my car and thought about it, looked at the site and saw there were only NINE MINUTES left in the compo! Talk about timing!
So I pulled over and grabbed the best mix I had in my dropbox, donloaded it to my phone, and submitted real quick, and just wrote some quick BS that I intended to edit later. But I guess that's not possible! I thought it used to be.
Anyway the working title for this was "1989" and so I agree with you glebogryzarka. The heavy FM synthesis was on its way out by 1992...but boy you could hear those drums on many a hit record in the early 90s!
I'm pretty sure it's mostly Yamaha DX7, TQ5, and X4500 on here, with the Roland R8M (the rack version) doing the main drums. The guitar-ish lead at the end was DX7 through IK AmpliTube 4 amp simulator.
Mixed in Logic!
And YES that stupid tambourine is WAY too loud and I knew that, but I didn't have the final mix in my Dropbox! I had also intended on adding more instrumentation to this but ran out of time!
