this is so nice
The dusk seems to sit heavy on the ol' Furnace factory on the outskirts of town. The machine churns on — full of its whirs, chirps, beeps, boops, booms, and pops — as if it were unaware of the late hour, but as the dim starlight paints the rooftops, so does symphony of industrial emulation creep to a halt like so many kernels of popcorn, either bursting at last into creation or sitting idly to be popped another day.
The clock ticks to the next hour, unadorned by ceremony, and the night watch strolls over to the music-making behemoth, taps gracefully upon its buttons, and shuts it down until it's ready for a new dawn of musical frenzy.
The clang of jingling keys, uneven humming, and lazy, unhurried steps, fading in the distance, offer one final line in their wake: good night, sweet Furnace.

I'm always a sucker for wrapping up projects with some quirky, downtempo, jazz-ish tune — some sort of "last exhale." The alternate title to this track is Aldi Jazz because my attempt at the genre often reminds me of Aldi-brand foods: it says that's what it is, it looks like that's what it is, and yet there's always something just a touch off about it that isn't quite what you bargained for. Oh well.

2x OPM (to get that full sound) + Sega PCM + 1x Generic DAC channel for the humming and walking sample: the Sega PCM roughed up the recording's quality too much, and given it's a showcase for the program, I figured no harm in adding the channel just for that.
Recorded in Audacity via Furnace playback. Thanks for listening!
