this is a very creative way to approach this format!
Showcasing here my fantasy sound chip, named OPRH-040. It supports 16 FM channels (with up to 5 operators each and 9 different waveforms) (a.k.a. FMX) and 8 PCM channels (which can play both 8-bit and 16-bit samples, in a fixed frequency up to 44.1kHz) (a.k.a. Sampler), all of them monophonic. This chip works the same way as OrgMaker, with FM synths and samples being bound to their respective channels, so it's impossible to switch a synth/sample to another in the same channel. In other words, you aren't just limited to 16 FM channels and 8 PCM channels. You are also limited to 16 FM synths and 8 samples in fixed frequency
