FamiStudio isn't the tool for making SMS music, you can look at the different tools and restrictions in this lyceum article here when making music for this format.

When submitting, submit the proper file first (in this case, .VGM), then you can submit the MP3 file.

the goal with most botb-formats is to actually submit files that can be played back on the original hardware (or in a specific software, depends on the format), so for this sega master system format, all submitted entries should be able to get played on a real sms

i'd suggest getting familiar with either sneventracker or deflemask and then remaking the song in one of those programs. as cool as famistudio is, i'm afraid it isn't necessarily allowed in the format this battle is in, as it is specifically designed for .nsf files - files meant for playback on an nes and not a master system. i know you probably didn't mean to submit an illegal entry - all n00bs, after all - but i'd honestly rather you redo it in sneventracker because ngl this is good for a first entry! hell i can probably help you out if you want to, i've got some experience in it so

edit: and it doesnt have to do anything with effects you use. we care about hardware compability first rather than how it sounds

You can still upload your MP3 render, how this works is that when you upload to the format, it asks for the .VGM file first; after you do that, you are then able to upload your MP3 file (a button saying "up MP3" will appear).
