I had been wanting to experiment with SNES samples and SNES limitations for a long time, and when I tried out the samples from The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, I remembered how lovely the strings could sound and decided to build a song around cool harmonies with these sounds. I also wanted to experiment with extreme modulations with II-Vs cadences, and that's how the basic idea for the song came about.

The result is an extremely nostalgic ballad, I guess it would be an "end of summer existential crisis because of the passage of time and impermanence of happiness" kind of vibe... I hope you'll like it, I find the result pretty lovely !!!

Big big thanks to Damifortune for their extensive guide on SNES music, as well as ripping, naming and tuning samples from lots of SNES games (and even fixing some of them after I noticed the tunings were off !), and also thanks to Buttonmasher and his discord community for hosting a small SNES compo that pushed me to finally start writing for the chip !

Written and recorded in Cubase 11 with the C700 vst.
Samples taken from Zelda ALTTP, Final Fantasy VI and EarthBound

the lead lines i find hard to decipher at times, but the modulations quality makes up x100 for it
