i'm actually amazed by how much this sounds like the SNES, just with respect to the FM and square timbres. (maybe the sample drums help, too?) even though, yeah, the music is a bit derivative (deliberately; you picked some great stuff to pastiche lol), this is an awesome entry and its atmosphere impresses me a lot, in the way that i wouldn't have expected the chips could sound like this. :D

There are a number of fun tricks that I used on this track that I think help fill it up:

- I applied a bunch of processing to the samples (delay + reverb + EQ) before importing them in.
- On the square/SN channels there's both an echo volume envelope on the main channel instrument and your usual delay + detune copy channel, though the delay channel also has more of a reverby volume envelope that has more of a fade in.
- My new favorite trick, 4-voice chords in 2 channels by using ext ch3 mode and 2 + 2 op instrument with some multiplier shenanigans on the other channel. This gives enough room to have 2 channels for the main melody voice + delay (so in total on the YM2612, 1 for bass, 2 for chords, 2 for melody, 1 for drum samples).
- Detunes on all the FM instruments for that delicious chorus-y timbre :)
