i'm glad to see how this turned out! absolutely killer main themes, the core of this tune is really stunning. i personally thought the B section at 1:40something felt a bit awkwardly distant from the rest of the tune, although it too sounded great; maybe a little more transitional material getting there would've helped it gel. but it gets back on track when the solo string sample comes in, and the triumphant restatement really brings it home. altogether an awesome piece.

one more thought - maybe a little more playing around with the main theme melody or its chord progression would be cool, it's nice to always feel what's coming but i could see a little more development there, sending it in new directions, spinning it out with re-uses of little chunks of the melodic phrase, etc

thanks for the feedback! i was feeling really unsure about the middle section, i have a tendency to hit a wall somewhere around the bridge in verse+chorus stuff like this. i would want to get more comfortable with taking one or two motifs and trying to develop those as much as possible, instead of going back to old habits and just trying to stitch together a bunch of (generally) unrelated parts

it reminds me of Jeroen Tel's late 80s / early 90s style.

Oh man this was a delightful piece! When I do wavetables, I usually end up with SNBSHSHSHSHJJ*ZZ!!*JSKKDKFNDKKXMDMDMMD or some other barely palatable sound, so to hear you manage all this out of the PCE is incredible!

I thought the second section made an impact as a listener and didn't feel super out of sync. I imagine you could do more to ease into it, but I didn't find it jarring myself. At any rate nice work!

Oh, look, an 80s anime opening which turns into a 90s anime opening. Beautiful. I don't know a lot about PCE but those strings sound like black magic to me for the soundchip capabilities.

As for me, I'm very averse to monotony in music (unless it's part of the style or composition), so I found your song very delightful. I don't feel it's all over the place (I'm worse when composing XD). Beautiful.
