first time doing a ton of formats this advent calendar, and this one is no different
in fact, i think this is the one i kinda had the least planning for? like i kinda just smashed into it with max speed and here we are
16k ram expansion required because i love utilizing every channel for stuff like this = w=;

since theres limited chance of volume control with vic20 you have to be really careful in avoiding having long strings of uninterrupted notes to avoid listener fatigue. the enjoy the somethings you have to have some nothings in between

i agree with this after looking back on this. a ton of chips can pull off sustained notes without getting repetitive, stale, exhausting or outright annoying after a while due to volume envelopes and wave modulation seen in stuff like wavetable synthesis (hes, n163) or freq mod (yamaha's operator series of chips). the vic chip isn't really one of those chips, in hindsight; i'll try to avoid that for future vic20 entries i make.
