The scene: Halley McMurdo research station, Antarctic shelf.

The station houses 153 international scientists over the bitter winter -- or it did, until this morning, when Dr. Kellen Janic was found dead in front of the R. E. Byrd historical monument near the atmospheric lab. The monument's inscription, a testament to peace, was covered in the doctor's frozen blood. Now it stands as a testament to murder as a group of scientists haul the rigid body away. The eyes around you peering through fur coats are untrusting and dark. You begin your investigation.

A simple scene-setting bgm song inspired by some of my favorite puzzle adventure games (Full Throttle, Ghost Trick, Puzzle Agent). Enjoy!

Hard to articulate, but despite being foreboding, it was also...whimsical? Like you're meeting a villain in Crash Bandioot on the PSX where, the game circumstances notwithstanding, nothing gets THAT serious. A puzzle game makes sense, though I could hear it more mainstream platformers as well.

Instrumentation was a fun choice: seemingly lots of chromatic percussion or wind-based instruments. Think they really helped define the song's feel!

scene set perfectly! i also love the instrumentation here - the augmented chord pad sits just right amidst all the plucky mallets and the background bass and drumkit. this needs to be in a real VN stat. so many little details to love and yet it's all quite digestible as potential BGM

I LOVE this particular variety of spooky whole tone music. Feels like it was way more common in the '90s.
