First Botb entry!
I've been lurking here for a while and I've finally decided to enter a competition so...that's it.

This is a sample based nes-style chiptune I've made in a tracker. Since this is a "fake" chiptune, I've figured that it's ok to submit it in the wildcard category. Cheers.

Welcome! Very impressive entry. We've had first-timers take entire competitions before, so keep that in mind.

As for "fake" versus "true" the end result and playability on the intended hardware platform really defines "chip music."
Check this out...

As you can see,a lot of the originators of commercial chip music used code, hex editing, trackers on PCs at the time -- being Atari and Amiga -- or even Cakewalk. As long as the end result was playable on the intended hardware of choice it became what we call today "chiptunes" or "chip music".

If you can track using trackers you might also want to check out SuperNSF, it2vgm.py, or even P5 (Paragon Tracker) -- which is a SchismTracker clone for Gameboy music.

Information may be scarce or obscure in finding, but eventually will all be covered in our Lyceum.

Again, welcome and congrats to your immanent, high-scoring tune. :)

Dude, you should totally enter Famicompo or something! This actually sounds like something virt would make. Favourite to win I think:)
