this is really cool. i wish i knew how to vote it cooler

music was a bit much at times and so was the jump sfx. parallax also a little lacking and weird

edit: oh, and thx for making something that works out of the box in chromium

really cute. i kind of want to play a game that does more with your mechanics. a longer adventure with a bigger sense of exploration. I mean this as a compliment toward how the game handled. thumbs up

i guess i'll be the first to say i didn't particularly enjoy this. don't get me wrong, i think there are good aspects to it (music, graphics, etc) but i feel like there is a severe lack of actual gameplay. you have a good base for something actually fun here, yet simply talking to things with no challenge whatsoever gets boring very quickly. the ship controls are fairly awkward as well.

for 48 hours it's a good effort, but i think more could have been done with it to make it feel more like a proper game.

blah i pressed save comment through accidental means

@shinichi – you probably weren't trying to make a statement by using the term "proper game", but i really do not like the mentality that that term implies. to me it feels like saying that something like nervous cop
isn't proper music since most of the tracks don't have anything resembling a melody, or that something like koyaanisqatsi
(wonder how long that link will live) isn't a proper film because it doesn't have dialogue or a narrative. this game isn't even trying to play with the idea of what a game is or isn't; i think we can all agree that it's obviously a work in the "video games" medium. challenge is only one potential aspect of that medium.

games are not mediums for 'challenge' for me, rather they help me cope with escapism by expirencing new things and ideas. if this game wasn't like your normal platformer and you didnt enjoy it im sorry :(

^ I can totally get behind this. I don't necessarily think games need challenge as a requirement (I mean hell, I enjoy visual novels (a genre which inherently has little to no challenge at all) and I still consider them games lol). You could make this game more story-driven while still keeping its escapism atmosphere. (For example, giving each of the characters you talk to more of a backstory and have it contribute to the game's overall plot and have each of the characters develop as the game progresses.) However, I also understand how incredibly difficult this would be to do within the 48 hour time limit.

I think maybe this wasn't the best sort of game to do for a short jam like this, but I think this has a lot of potential! I think if you guys continue to work on this after the jam, taking the suggestions I gave, this could end up being a very successful game! You could pull it off without adding any sort of "challenge" to it as well.

That said, this is still my 2nd favorite entry out of the ones I've played so far. I definitely get the escapism vibe you were going for with this entry. (I could totally lose myself in this game for hours flying around in the hub and listening to the music. The atmosphere is so good. <3)

Life is ruthless.

Is there something at the end? You can still jump around but your sprite is not shown?

GREAT music! I wish the tunes were longer, but I guess they were kept short on purpose.
The only thing I didn't like was the ship. The controls were super awkward for me and I didn't like the fact that the ship collides with the background.
Other than that, wow. Great thing you've got here.

i found myself making up my own gameplay - getting in the spaceship mid jump, trying to be in mid jump when the world blacks out, timing my jumps in time to the ending song. the fact that i bothered to do that tells me i enjoyed being in the game environment

sorry you dont get it, but art doesnt have to dumb down to everyone's needs uau
(although lacking a story is a actual thing that i have addressed myself and am working on since i have more than 48 hours to make this game now)
