My first entry on BoTB. I confused remix w/ cover and yeah. Also the first time I have 'tracked' in ages. I'm really happy to track again, although it's effing annoying as hell when I sometimes get addicted to a section of music I'm developing and outdo myself. :\
Oh well. I was working on a re-submission since this is a cover track, but I think everyone enjoys it. I believe beyond points, your ears and browser will enjoy journeying here to listen to this tune.
I was inspired from another submitist to write how I developed the music from this sample pack. I got the lead sound from a portion of the effed up speak-n-spell sample. There's a unique ding near the beginning of the sample playback that became nicely. I'm a noob at doing ping-pong sample looping, but I enjoy its crappy sounds. You could call it 8-bit.
Drums came from the various drum samples. I recall spending a lot of time tuning the drums to sound great together, ie. closed hi-hat sample I tuned way up. Snare prolly tuned up a little too.. I don't remember what else..
All other samples are probably just trimmed/looped versions of something or other.. The bass is from the Kowai sample with the beginning of the sample chopped off due to its massive attack kinda taking the bass effect away..
So yeah I used Renoise Tracker to make this. Since it was my first time using this tracker, and tracking in general, I had to learn the basics from http://tutorials.renoise.com .. These tutorials are very well thought out. Perfect, I would say. After getting the gist of things I went off on my own..
Everything was made with my mouse (trackpad) and PC keyboard. I don't have the proper tools yet to hook my MIDI keyboard up yet, but I'm looking forward to doing that and getting experienced with other tracking tools. Is this a bio now?
