I'm having some trouble with Knaecketraecker... I can't get it to play, even with the demo songs. Does anybody have a fix for this issue?

@Allomerus no idea at all... my last attempt was totally trial and error, and i forgot everything.... :D - but i think it worked minimally fine then, and not now i wonder why... (i ran it on wine, on ubuntu gnu/linux)

using the Plus4 emulator from VICE with TEDzakker has produced results! i think it might be better than Knaecketraecker.

it definitely is the better option.

trying on gnu/linux: xplus4.exe isn't running on wine (nothing appears, and no error messages in the terminal when attempting to run from there), and xplus4 (installed from ubuntu repository) says "PLUS4MEM: Error - Couldn't load kernal ROM `kernal'." - i actually previously copied the folder PLUS4 (rom files and etc., from the vice link provided from lyceum and tutorial) to '~/.vice/' , so i wonder why it isn't running - i'll keep trying (also for trying to document it and share here) - anyway, the tutorial is indeed helpful, perhaps would be a good idea have this youtube link in the lyceum as well? - DirMaster seems to run fine on wine (note: youtube's automatic transcription thought you said "dealmaster"... (might be because the german accent...) so i guess we need to improve the transcription (like on amara, i can put some hand on it) and upload the srt back on youtube? )

as i said, i made a win-tutorial, i have no idea how it works on other OS

exactly, and your tutorial (which is a good one!) is really an excellent start for all those non-mswindows users like some of us, it's just up to ourselves about finding out how it will work on all needed "alternative" steps

for example, minus4 emulator is running fine here on wine - i just need to try it better and see if i can do there the same as i could on vice

transcriptions are quite useful because you can read everything said at once, that was the context i was talking about - they are really useful documentation as well, and also a very valid alternative resource - and even more when we have adhd! :)

there are quite some plus4 emulators out there, if vice is not working for you, it should be no problem to find alternatives (as you did ;D) - as long as they can attach disk images.

there are linux builds of vice! it's in the ubuntu repos but it looks like you can also get it here https://pkgs.org/download/vice

edit: however you WILL still need to download the windows version because it comes with the kernal roms etc - just copy the PLUS4 folder to /usr/lib/vice or ~/.vice

edit2: if VICE complains about not being able to load the .prg file, go into Settings - Machine - Autostart - and set Autostart PRG mode to 'Inject into RAM' and that should do it!

and about tedzakker (on minus4 emulator on wine, while i'm still struggling on vice) now i'm struggling on the part "saving error 3! press a key. free:...kb", as from an empty .d64 (created on dirmaster, even with chmod set as 777), as from a duplicated tedzakker.d64 - is it only me getting this error?

@nitrofurano that is weird - it must be expecting to find kernal in a different location? i'm running 3.4 and it's loading kernal from /usr/lib/vice/PLUS4/

@DefenseMechanism yes, really weird - from what i have from ~/.vice/PLUS4/kernal :
md5sum: 89f5263665a8dc10c8f8abc38f5f7eb9

chmod is 664 - user is the same from login
what i have at /usr/lib/vice/PLUS4/kernal is exactly the same - and i have no idea where else all these files (kernal and all others) should be placed as well...

finally i started to make some sound on yape emulator (but it crashes a lot, totally affecting the loading/editing/saving iterative process), and also tried on mame (which i could only attach imagefiles, not prg files) - and i keep trying on and on... :D

talking about yape emulator, curious is how the description on its official webpage starts (http://yape.homeserver.hu/download.htm): "yape is a decent no-nonsense plus/4 emulator." (are such nonsense issues like this i'm getting from vice? :O )

Ah, and please don't use VICE and its mediocre 264 machines'emulation. Use YAPE instead.

i wantd to make a funny statment regarding PAL liek "my pal" but i realised i cld not do that with ntsc,

i bought the wrong device so i won't be able to do ntsc hardware renders until that is rectified

happy to see so many people tried tedzakker and came up with incredible results. this was a GOOD BATOL!!!

i have come to the conclusion after voting for a bit that the plus/4 sounds like a much less capable master system

how the fuck did yall get actual songs out of this what (i mean this in the most endearing way possible, everyone did great (so far, i havent voted on everything just yet) ok now i have; this is still true)

user port looks different on +4
it was a really tight fit

so i don't fully understand whats going on with my +4
afaict the unit is fine
ran some games and a ram tester

when i go to play an exported tedzakker track or load a track (including the examples) into tedzakker itself i get noise on the screen and its out of sync with my CRT

the music plays back but (if i had to guess) the machine is in PAL mode and also taking two frames to do one frame's worth of processing so the music is playing back even slower than half speed

i still haven't ruled out there isn't something wrong with my NTSC +4 unit and if there isn't that means emulators are ignoring something

EDIT/ADDENDUM: Lonestar found in the Tedzekker description that it does not support NTSC -- I am very relieved its not my unit!
