Greetz to all noobs! I come to you now with some exciting(???) news.

For teh longest of times, the bandcamp releases have been free exclusively, but I will soon be changing that. Whyyyyyyyyy, you ask? The reasons are threefold:

1. When free donloads run out, bandcamp automatically changes all releases to $7 and I have to manually. Change. Back. Every. Single. Release. To. Un. Priced. Which, given our huge volume of releases now, is something I really don't want to be bothered with.

2. As B-Knox spirals towards financial ruin, I'm sure a little extra cash will make him happy, and he won't be forced to turn beard tricks on the street.

3. To create a "culture" of """"""value""""""" See, johnny layman views a bunch of free releases and doesn't give a shit. But! My humble botbrs, I would certainly put our chiptune releases up against anything else bandcamp has to offer. And purchased releases also show supporters their, making them look even more "popular."

Pricing will be simple:

$1 for EPs 3~5 tracks. (bad turnout majors)
$3 for LPs 8~13 tracks. (typical 1 format majors)
$5 for megamixes 25+ tracks. (winter chips ect...)

I'll be changing prices soon, but not just yet. You noobs lucked out as we just BARELY didn't run out of downloads for April, so we got a fresh batch of freedom IE use this opportunity to download anything you haven't gotten around to yet.

AND NEVER FEAR! ALL OUR RELEASES WILL CONTINUE TO BE FREE! I will set each new release as free until it gets bumped form the "most current" spot.

So don't wait around! Get them while they're hot. And if that's still not good enough for you, remember that you can always just download each track from the site and level them yourself. You know, do my fucking job.

Personally speaking, physical releases drive me to buy and nearly nothing else.

@Chip Champion, can you see if you can correct an error for me? The Bandcamp release of my NSF entry for WCVI has a problem — it's only the first half of the song. Would it be possible for you to fix that?

The entry on Bandcamp:
https://battleofthebits.bandcamp.com/track/dougs-digipen-application

The entry here on BotB:

Thanks!

Are there any legal issues with selling things that we wrote? I don't pay much attention when I upload things but there does seem to be a noncommercial CC license ticked by default, but then there's also a different CC license that BOTB is granted, which is confuse. And where does the money go?

all procedes go to Baron Knoxburry, youll have to ask him about the licensing stuff. but i think that by submiting something to botb, you are sharing the license of said copyrighted material.

Stewboy, the bandcamp is pretty much a donation page since you can always dl the songs for free from BotB. However, by donating, you get access to all the normalized songs w/ id3 tags and album art embedded. So donating has an incentive.

If the option is available though, changing the license to the one on BotB is probably something that should be done sooner or later. Otherwise just state in the descriptions to ignore the Bandcamp licensing and that its (insert BotB's CC licensing)

i hope they're not just normalized, and if so, i hope they're not normalized to 0 dB :~) the RMS dB and perceived loudness of a normalized zx beeper track could be over twice that of a normalized adlib track!

+1. Honestly, you should make megamixes way more than five earth dollars. Making things dirt cheap doesn't enforce much more value than free. Make them what they're worth.
