Lots of folks have always wanted to have the "unfavorite" option. I've always had the intent to make this an option, but I also always wanted to come up with a metric or type of points based on number of entries heard. Favorites, in the database, give us a skewed idea of how many times every BotBr has listened to every entry, but if they clicked "favorite" then they get pushed to 5 listens which automagically favorites. Yeah, 5 listens and auto-fave.

I kind of want to change the term to "Lurvs" which is a horrible way to spell 'Loves'. But if listens are worth points do we call them Listenist points? How many listens to a point? 5? 10? 25? Is this even a good idea?

If we ever get to have editable playlists, looking through your "lurvs" might be handy. I probably will never disable auto-faves, but being able to unfave for boons would be cool.

Still looking for that damned humility helmet item so I don't end up hearing all my stuff constantly. ;P Changing my listening habits while being logged in will unlikely change. With how much activity I have creatively I'm pretty sure I'll lose all my boons to unlurv something. How about 50 boons per unlurv; being that someone will unlikely pay much for "negative reinforcement"?

Are all types of "listening" for Listenist points going to count: downloading source/binaries, renders, clicking "listen", listening on "botb radio", etc? Depends on what types of "listens" will count to determine how many listens per Listenist point.

i read "edible playlists", which i think is a wonderful idea.

i support unfave for boons. being angry at / perplexed by auto-faves is a rite of passage that all botbrs must experience, but 1) it'd be nice to be able to curate your favorites list and 2) doing so will stimulate the boon economy, sexually.

not a fan of listenist points, really, but i have no particular argument against them.

"listenist" points would be restricted to listens only, does not include donloads or viewing visual media entries

cost for unfavorite would prolly be how much your "much" score is on that entry -- you can see that by viewing your favorites on your profile

lurvs = if i understood correctly, this is a synonym of faves? i personally like/prefer the term favorites, but not much of an issue, what matters is the funcionality
unfave for boons = cool (will make n00bs skeptical of unfaving at first......which is a good thing!)
always enabled auto-fave (except for maybe humility helmet) = cool too, auto-fave is part of the botb culture as jangler mentioned
humility helmet = i like the item, not the point of the thread but it could be a non-permanent item that saves you from x auto-faves (x being something like 5 maybe?)
listenist points = good idea since it encourages participating and listening to stuff etc etc, BUT
there should be a minimum amount of time the user should be listening to the song for it to count towards the points (like idk 30 secs, or 50% of the song)(sorta like yt deals with views??)
else one would just be able to SMASH THAT MF LISTEN BUTTON and use it to grind levels, and then pay boons to unfav the song so no one finds out
also about that, unfaving could actually just be hiding it from the fav list so the stats stay up for admins, just not publically shown
and on that matter, another question
if i unfav a song then listen to it another five times, should it refav or not?

I've always thought any item should have a limited amount of uses before it degrades and borks.

Auto favs currently happen counting with whenever the track begins to load. Make the listenist mechanism only work when the track ends would be simple, but could probably do it at any percentile of playing completion.

And I think it's cool and easiest that someone can re-auto-fav.

ok back on topic of listen points:

since people get points when their stuff GETS listened to, i don't see how getting points for playing tunes wouldn't turn into a giant point circlejerk. (not to mention eating up teh bandwidths when if you really liked a track you would just download it, right?) id say it could only be done like that if we had a cap on listen points you could gain per day, week, ect... and maybe also a cap on listen points per track to encourage listening to different things?

maybe you could just get a listen point whenever another botbr listened to you playlist huuuhhhhhh?

imo if you try to stream a track more than five times a frightful aural arbiter ought to smite thee and command that you download said track posthaste
